Legend of Zelda Gets New Master Sword & Hylian Shield Release December 2026

The Legend of Zelda has been one of the most beloved gaming franchises for 40 years, and the celebration of this grand anniversary never seems to cease. While the Ocarina of Time of time remake for Nintendo Switch 2 is certainly getting more attention than anything else, fans shouldn't overlook everything else that's coming out.

This December, Zelda fans will be able to get their hands on their very own Master Sword and Hylian Shield. For anyone willing to pay the price, Link's two most iconic weapons will finally be theirs.

Link's Master Sword and Hylian Shield Become Available in New December Zelda Release

This December, Hanayama will be releasing the newest addition to their line of Legend of Zelda three-dimensional metal puzzles. Specifically, this one is bringing to life Link's signature Master Sword and Hylian Shield, offering a stunning shelf-piece for those who are able to put it together.

The end of 2026 will see the release of the "Premium Gold Edition" of the puzzle. As one might be able to guess, this version of the puzzle is completely gold-colored, with both the Master Sword and Hylian Shield shimmering. Gold has long been the color most associated with the Legend of Zelda franchise, from the golden cartridge that the original NES game came on, to the golden Wiimote released alongside Skyward Sword, to the Switch's golden Joy-Cons.

This release is part of "a series of high-precision three-dimensional puzzles for adults, inspired by the Circle of Wisdom," as the official description puts it. "The "Master Sword" and "Hylian Shield" from the "The Legend of Zelda" series come as a set in premium gold color. With a mirror-finished gold plating finish, it can be enjoyed not only as a puzzle but also as an ornamental piece."

For those who'd prefer their Master Sword and Hylian Shield in class red, blue, gold, and silver, they'll have to wait for the "Masterpiece Color Edition" of the puzzle. This version of the release will be coming out in February 2027.

"The 'Master Sword' and 'Hylian Shield' from the 'The Legend of Zelda' series are now available in big-color versions," the second version's description reads. This edition of the release is slightly larger, with the Master Sword being 115mm x 57mm, as opposed to 94.5mm x 48mm, while the Hylian Shield has measurements of 81.5mm x 59mm vs 70.5mmx51.5mm.

The "Premium Gold Edition" will cost 8,800 Yen, or roughly $58 USD. The "Masterpiece Color Edition" of the puzzle, meanwhile, will cost 11,000 Yen, or approximately $72 USD.

Fans interested in these puzzles can currently purchase previous entries in the series, including individual silver releases of the Master Sword and Hylian Shield, a Triforce, and a Hyrule Crest.
