Insomniac Says Marvel’s Wolverine Did Not Use Generative AI

Insomniac Games‘ community director James Stevenson says generative AI wasn’t used in Marvel’s Wolverine, in response to social media discussion about the game’s production.

Wolverine was released earlier this week exclusively on the PlayStation 5. Unfortunately for Insomniac, the reviews have been mixed at best, with many players pointing out flaws on social media. Most complaints so far have centered on a “hand-holding” feel and the sense that tasks complete themselves with little player input.

So far, a hotfix has been released to address some visual issues. Now, they are facing claims of generative AI usage after a questionable bathroom sign in the game has circulated on social media.

Insomniac Responds to Marvel’s Wolverine GenAI Claims

Insomniac’s community director, James Stevenson, said Marvel’s Wolverine did not use generative AI, responding to an online discussion on X. The image Stevenson was addressing featured Logan in front of a bathroom. The bathroom appears to be coed, but the sign on the door features multiple flaws, including on the male side, where it appears that two figures occupy the space.

Stevenson said this was a UV map bug and that a fix was coming soon. He also said the game has no AI-generated assets.

Unfortunately for him, many users questioned that logic in the replies. You can see some below:
