How Apex Legends' Godzilla event actually plays: surviving the heat ray

Godzilla takes over Storm Point in Apex Legends on November 10, and the crossover event makes one thing clear early: players cannot kill the monster, they can only stay out of its way. EA said in the announcement that the Apex Legends | Godzilla Event runs from November 10 to December 1, celebrating the theatrical release of Godzilla Minus Zero on November 6.

The kaiju changes the battle royale map itself. Storm Point arrives mid-attack, with damaged buildings and burnt trees marking the destruction. The reward loop is a risk trade: players who venture into a blast zone before Godzilla's heat ray strikes can find a Care Package holding a custom Devotion LMG whose heat ray attack tracks enemies on hit. EA's own framing sets the stakes: "Godzilla has come to the Outlands and made Storm Point its stomping ground. You can't defeat it, you can only survive."

The event also brings the Dorsal Dagger, a new universal heirloom melee inspired by Godzilla's dorsal fins, available as a possible drop in Godzilla Event Packs with a matching Death Box.

A first for Apex's big map creatures

This is not Apex's first oversized resident. Earlier seasons featured the pacifist Leviathans that wandered through the King's Canyon map without attacking anyone. Godzilla is a different proposition: an actively hostile presence whose heat ray creates a timed hazard, closer to a moving hazard zone than set dressing.

Apex Legends is free to play on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through the EA app, Epic Games Store and Steam. The Godzilla Event begins on Storm Point on November 10 and runs until December 1, and the film it celebrates, Godzilla Minus Zero, reaches theaters on November 6.
